Good morning everyone. ::)It's gloomy here today, which is not that unusual for central New York. It's a red letter day when the sunshines. I've joined the ranks of hiring someone to update parts of my living quarters. In my case, it's a new front door ramp. My old one was rotting out at the foot. I certainly hope that he completes it in one day or else no one can get in or out except for the emergency exit. :-*Have a great Tuesday everyone!!
Good afternoon UKers #viannen_87# It's cold and rainy again - still - yet. <sigh> But it's better than out west - in Colorado it was -15 last night. I am definitely not ready for THAT!! who- - I've always loved those "kids say the darnedst things" and your angels thoughts sure fits the bill. pip- -Are you trying to make us jealous? It's cloudy and 40F here!! I hope you all (except maybe Pip) have a grand Tuesday.

Good morning everyone. ;)My Christmas shopping is easy. Several years ago, we adults decided no more gifts were necessary. Spend the money on the children. Now I give my grandsons money, since I haven't got the faintest idea what teenage boys want today!! However, now I've got Margaret Grace to buy for. And babies don't change with the times. Something frilly and pink, maybe? :(They're forecasting lake effect snow in my area, which means sometimes we get it but most of the time we don't. Right now the sun is shining in my windows. ;D Oh wow!! For any baseball fans (like me) Albert Pujols is reportedly signing with the Angels for $250 million over 10 years. I wonder if I could persuade my grandsons to take up baseball for a living??
] Good mroning Satorians. >:(That Jerry Sandusky-Penn State story gets uglier every day. I hope some good comes from this - raising awareness of child abuse. I don't understand how people can be so vile.#42204v1666286ik0# ???I've been trying to figure out what to buy a newborn baby girl for Christmas. Any suggestions welcome. :)Have a great day everyone.
:)Good afternoon my UK friends. ::)It's cold but sunshiny here today. Temp around 37F with wind. Winter's definitely on its way. :-/Here in my section of New York state we're subjected to lake effect snow. The Great Lakes are big enough to affect the weather and when the cold wind blows over the open lakes it creates snow. That's why Buffalo (sitting on the end of Lake Erie) gets so much snow. Rochester, Syracuse and the north country get it from Lake Ontario. Syracuse routinely gets about 10 feet each winter. Luckily, for me, I live below the snow belt and don't usually get lake effect (only when the wind is from the north, but the prevailing wind is usually from the west). OK - - sometimes I get a little windy myself. Have a great Thursday (even Pip down there in sunny and WARM Spain).

Good morning Crapsters. :-/Today is one of those lousy days when the weather keeps fluctuating between rain and wind. UGH!! Everything is gray. ::)I hope you all have a better day than it appears I will.
Good morning Satorians sus- -I get Facebook e-mails all the time and delete them, so I probably deleted Happy's. :-/The weather here is lousy today. Rain and wind. #smiliesCAWB9YHV#At this time of the year I'd prefer snow!! :)I hope you are all having a nicer day than I am.
Good afternoon to all my UK friends. Pod- #1-giggle# -I love limericks!! Whether they're nice or naughty! #smileyslaughing_lol_hehe_100-102# Kelly- -No jokes today? :(No smiles to start the day? ::)Ah, well, Have a great Thursday everyone.

Good afternoon everyone. :)Well, I'm on a book reading marathon, having just gotten a new order of books from Amazon. I've finished my first book, Margaret Maron's Rituals of the Season, one of her Deborah Knott mysteries. Now I've moved on to Ariana Franklin's The Serpent's Tale, a mystery set in Henry II's (of Lion in Winter fame) England. #cold1# It's somewhat cold (30ºF) but we're back to sun and blue skies. Now if we can just avoid the storm that hit the midwest. Time to get back to my book. Hope your Tuesday goes well for you.

Good morning everyone. :(Gloomy and chilly here again. If the weather is going to be this lousy, then let's have snow. I cannot stand cold rain!!! So now I'm ready to start my 4th book - J.A. Jance, Queen of the Night. It isn't one of her regular series, but set in Arizona Native American territory. Yesterday's King of the Hive was one of Laurie King's usual excellent books. She does an excellent job in capturing the Sherlock Holmes of Arthur Conan Doyle but aging him. In several places he has some problems physically due to age and ruminates on the vagaries of getting old. And she projects him as a father-grandfather based on the original stories. He has discovered a son and granddaughter who are major characters in this book. Fascinating for someone who has long enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes saga. I hope you all have a fine Thursday.

i179.photobucket.com/albums/w285/kimmychilds/ga/ga0101.gif [/img] Good afternoon everyone. :)I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and got the presents you hoped for. ;DI certainly did. My oldest and youngest son bought me a 32" HD TV and now I can read the screen without my glasses. I had a 19" TV and even with my glasses I couldn't read half the stuff on the screen. I was so happy and touched that I almost cried. 8-)The family dinner was fun and delish as usual (both deep-fried turkey and baked ham). The only thing missing was the stuffing. I must remember to remind my son that deep-frying the turkey is great (much quicker) but bake some stuffing please!! We started things off with his mil's Italian wedding soup and finished with Italian love cake which is a cross between a cheesecake and regular cake. Yummmmmy!!! All in all it was a lovely holiday and beginning to the end of 2011.

Good monring fellow everyone. :)Well, I'm down to one book, J.D. Robb's Big Jack. I've got the whole Lt. Eve Dallas collection except those in hardcover, which I will buy when the paperback comes out. Love the series. I just finished 3 more Margaret Maron, Judge Deborah Knott series. I think that I'm pretty much up-to-date with that series also. So after today, I should be back to my regular routine. ( 8-)Until I get another book order ;D ;D ;D) ???Where has all the snow gone? The ski resorts are crying. This week is usually their biggest of the year and there's NO SNOW!!!! And the grape growers are worried too. The winter has been too warm so far. And that isn't good for the production of the next crop of grapes. Forgetting about the need for the melting snow to refurbish the area's water supply. :(Worry, worry, worry. :)But I still hope that you all have a fine Thursday. Only one more day to the New Year's Weekend.

Good morning IIF & Wingnut, Daphne, Kelly, who, sus and anyone else dropping by. ???Well, as usual the weatherman was partially wrong. We had the strong winds last night but little snow here in the Finger Lakes. But the forecast is for more snow overnight. As I look outside I see the sun and blue skies. I'm looking forward to watching the Tournament of Roses parade on my new 32" TV this morning. I love to see the floats in that parade. They ARE works of art.
;DThen it's on to the football bowl games, especially the Rose Bowl and tonight's Fiesta Bowl. And if there are any hockey fans out there - at 3 p.m. EST is the Winter Classic in Philadelphia between the NY Rangers and Philsdelphia Eagles. This is the game that is played outdoors like old-time hockey was. I just hope that it's cold enough in Philly to keep the ice solid.
] Good morning Satorians. sus- -How was the acting in the movie? Was Michelle Williams believable as Marilyn Monroe? I'm not really surprised that the movie wasn't dramatic but I'm curious on how well the real life characters (Laurence Olivier and Marilyn) were portrayed. And yes my team, NY Giants, beat those Cowpokes 31-14 and won the NFC East. Next week they play the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the playoffs at home in East Rutherford, N.J. #clap# Now it's time for the Tournament of Roses parade. Love those floats made out of all natrual materials. They are truly works of art. :-*Have a good day.
Good afternoon to my UK friends. #1-giggle# Kelly, you are priceless!! Why did you stop posting your jokes on my thread? :)I'm watching the Tournament of Roses parade while typing this. You probably don't get it in the UK, which is a shame. They have the most beautiful floats that have to be made out of all natural materials. An example from 2008 parade:
The parade is a lead-in to one of our college football bowl games - The Rose Bowl. Of course the parade also has lots of band, including the marching bands from the two colleges in the Rose Bowl. Today it's the University of Oregon and of Wisconsin. A surprise this year was a band from Sweden - the Royal Navy Cadet Band. ;DI LOVE a good parade!!

Good morning my friends. who- -I hope you're feeling better. ???Well, most of the snow is gone. Not that we had much to begin with. More is forecast for tonight, but I'll believe it when I see it. Get ready for a nationwide drought this summer. That's what we're having right now. For pleasanter things - tonight begins Mystery Person in the Entertainment section of this board, I do hope you all join me for some fun. 7 p.m. same channel.
Good morning Satorians. sus, Your wish is "Sometimes" my command - #smiley4076# #smiley4076# #smiley4076# #smiley4076# #smiley4076# #smiley4076# :-/To be serious, I think you may be right and you should ask to be removed from the case. You've got enough problems in life without the aggravation and potential threat presented by your work on this case. :)I hope you're planning on joining me on Mystery Person tonight.

Good morning everyone. It's a sunny day with temps in the high 20s so far. The little snow on the ground is fast disappearing. I just read on my weather thread that in Pod's part of England, he saw a daffodil and tree budding!! How's that for a mid-winter day!! My NY Giants dismantled the Atlanta Falcons yesterday. They looked awesome!! And then to top things off Denver and Tebow thrashed the injury-hampered Steelers. Next week: Giants vs. Packers, Denver vs. New Englad Patriots. Now tonight is the NCAA Championship game - Louisiana State University/LSU vs. Alabama game II. Ho-hum. (There should be a rule that if the teams have already played each other during the season, they can't meet again in the championship game.) I've decided to make the time change for Mystery Person. Everyone who answered my query liked the idea. So from now on, Saturday @ 5 p.m. will be the starting time. Have a grrrrrreat Monday everyone.
Good morning Satorians sus- -Cats supposedly can make a hundred or more different sounds. I know my Siamese made sounds that I have never heard any other cat make. But sounding like a dog?? :)I've decided to make the time change for Mystery Person. Everyone who answered my query liked the idea. So from now on, Saturday @ 5 p.m. will be the starting time. :-*Have a grrrrrrrrreat Monday (if that's not an oxymoron ;D)
Good afternoon my UK friends. Pod- #42204v1666286ik0# -That hacker group Anonymous always claim some lofty reason for what they do. They attacked some of the entities that drop WikiLeak and cut off its finances. Now this. Something should be done about them - they are just a bunch of cyber-crooks as far as I'm concerned. :)I've decided to make the time change for Mystery Person. Everyone who answered my query liked the idea. So from now on, Saturday @ 5 p.m. will be the starting time.
] #1lg072tea# Good afternoon my UK friends (I don't see any signs of tea so it's coffee for me also) Pod- #42204v1666286ik0# -That hacker group Anonymous always claim some lofty reason for what they do. Everyone who answered my query liked the idea. So from now on, Saturday @ 5 p.m. will be the starting time. :oDaffodils?? Budding trees?? Boy, England is truly out of whack. #Musical_Note# Global warming's here again / The sky above is blue again / So let's give a cheer for it again / Global warming's here again! #Musical_Note# :-*And on that happy note (#Musical_Note#) I bid you good day!!
